A unique event, the First Catherine Forum, dedicated to the history and modern context of Russian migration policy, will take place in the Russian capital on 13 December. The forum is organised with the support of the International Union of Non-Governmental Organisations “Assembly of the Peoples of Eurasia”, which will hold three panel sessions on relevant topics of people’s, public, and business diplomacy at its venue.
The forum directly references Catherine II’s “Invitation Manifesto”, whose attractive conditions facilitated the influx of foreign specialists from various economic sectors into Russia. This document played an important role in Russian history, and 260 years after its issuance, it once again proves the relevance of its core idea: in the current geopolitical situation, citizens of Western countries have begun to view Russia as a place for a new life—stable and based on traditional spiritual and moral values.
The forum will be attended by representatives of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rossotrudnichestvo, Rosmolodezh, the Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs, senators and State Duma deputies, governors, scientists and leading experts in the field of Russian history and interethnic relations, leaders of all-Russian interethnic and international organisations, national-cultural associations, representatives of large corporations, foreign specialists and returned compatriots with successful experience of self-realisation in Russia.
At the session “Everyone’s responsibility for the common future”, examples of people’s diplomacy will be presented, and prospects for the development of this direction will be outlined. The experience and positive practices of public associations will be discussed at the platform “Support for compatriots and friends of Russia abroad”. Issues of business diplomacy and positive practices will be presented at the session “Business diplomacy: from trust between people to trust between economies”.
On the eve of the Catherine Forum, on 12 December, the Assembly of the Peoples of Eurasia and the Assembly of the Peoples of Russia will hold the final stage of the II International Competition “People’s Diplomacy Leader”, where 17 Russian and 13 foreign participants from Belarus, Germany, Egypt, Indonesia, Spain, Italy, Kazakhstan, Moldova, the UAE, Russia, Tunisia, and Uzbekistan will meet in the final. Subsequently, on the sidelines of the Forum itself on 13 December 2023, the official awards ceremony for the competition winners will take place.
The First Catherine Forum will be held on 13 December 2023 at the Digital Business Space, Moscow, 47 Pokrovka Street. The final stage of the II International Competition “People’s Diplomacy Leader” will be held on 12 December 2023 at the House of the Peoples of Russia (Moscow, Podsosensky Lane, 21, building 1).
